Helldivers 2 Ship Upgrade Priorities: A Purchase Worksheet
Your next ship upgrade should solve a problem in equipment you actually use. This guide replaces an unsupported universal tier list with a purchase worksheet: compare benefit, eligibility and resource cost before committing.

Why a fixed department ranking ages badly
The June 2026 official progression discussion described an overhaul intended to provide more ship-upgrade choice. It was a plan, not proof that every announced option had launched. Use your current menu’s requirements rather than an older department table.
Write down two real candidates
| Field | Candidate A | Candidate B |
|---|---|---|
| Exact name and current cost | Copy from your menu | Copy from your menu |
| Affected equipment | List the stated supported items | List the stated supported items |
| Your use | Regularly equipped or rarely used? | Regularly equipped or rarely used? |
| Observed problem | Reload, charges, deployment or another issue? | Which problem would this solve? |
| Prerequisite and inventory gap | Record before purchasing | Record before purchasing |
A worked decision without invented prices
Suppose Candidate A benefits an item you take on most missions, while Candidate B benefits an item you have not unlocked. If both are otherwise affordable, A has a clearer immediate use. If A requires resources you are also saving for a more important purchase, delaying both may be reasonable. This example does not identify a named module as best for every player.
Compare the bottleneck, not just the biggest number
If your difficulty comes from deploying support in the wrong place, a faster reload may not fix it. If a tool is useful but unavailable when needed, look for an upgrade whose listed effect addresses availability. Distinguish an equipment problem from a coordination or aim problem before spending.
After buying
Keep the old and new tooltip descriptions, the build and the item affected. An observation from a busy mission cannot isolate an exact performance increase. For resource arithmetic, use the inventory-gap planner. Do not assume every player has the same upgrade tree or that an old ranked list reflects your current menu.
Ship modules upgrade a system; stratagem unlocks add an option
A stratagem unlock and a ship module are different spending decisions. Requisitions unlock relevant stratagems, while samples support ship upgrades. Start with the tool you actually use: opening a new option answers “what can I bring?”, whereas an upgrade answers “what changes about the system I already use?” See Arrowhead’s currency explanation.
Named module examples from documented fixes
| Module | What the official record establishes | How to use that information |
|---|---|---|
| Superior Packing Methodology | Patch 01.000.300 recorded a fix for the module. | Verify the current card and behavior rather than treating an old bug report as a permanent effect. |
| Blast Absorption | The same patch recorded a fix to sentry explosion resistance. | It is relevant to a sentry-focused decision, not every possible loadout. |
| Hand Carts | Patch 01.000.400 listed an issue concerning Shield Generator Pack cooldown. | The historical issue is a reason to check scope, not proof that it remains broken today. |
