Helldivers 2 Objective Planning: Confidential Data and Illegal Broadcasts
Read the objective instructions shown in your current mission before acting on a remembered route. This site’s earlier guide promised a universal 300-metre one-shot broadcast clear and automatic medal rewards for Confidential Data without adequate evidence. Those claims have been removed.

Scope of this guide
This is an objective-planning checklist, not a verified current walkthrough for every terminal layout. The source-backed stronghold pickup sequence is explained below. Terminal layouts and exact reward amounts are not established by those sources. A guide should not fill those gaps with invented button prompts.
Before a detour
| Check | Decision |
|---|---|
| Exact objective name and instruction | Distinguish the task from a similarly named objective or nearby point of interest. |
| Current squad goal | Agree whether the group is doing the main mission, an optional task or resource collection. |
| Time and available tools | Decide what you can reasonably attempt without assuming an instant clear. |
| Assigned interaction and support | Agree who follows the prompt and who handles the surrounding situation. |
Confidential Data: follow the displayed task
Read the complete sequence and confirm any destination or follow-up instruction the game presents. If a task requires carrying or interacting with an object, establish who will do that before moving away. Do not infer completion or an automatic medal award from collecting something alone; check the objective state and results.
Illegal Broadcasts: verify completion
Do not assume that damage, an animation or a changed sound proves completion. Read the task state after your action. The September 2026 7.1.0 notes mention a sound change for illegal broadcasts; that is a documented presentation change, not proof of a particular weapon’s destruction range or shot count.
If the state does not update
Record the mission name, objective prompt, platform, build and what happened. Avoid silently treating an unclear state as success. For a reproducible game error, contact official player support.
Keep reward questions separate
A mission result, an active campaign condition and an account reward are different checks. Use the campaign guide to read an active order; this page does not promise medals or liberation credit for every optional task.
Confidential Data from strongholds: collection must lead to extraction
The official Escalation of Freedom patch announcement instructs players to search conquered large outposts for Confidential Data and extract with it. That supports a concrete distinction: finding the pickup alone is not the whole return plan. Agree who will collect it and how the squad will bring it to extraction.
This collectible should not be confused with every mission whose name refers to data. The official missions overview also describes retrieving valuable data among primary objectives. Read the exact objective or pickup label before following a guide for a similarly named task.
A source-backed sequence for the stronghold pickup
- Identify the relevant large outpost and coordinate the approach with the squad.
- After dealing with the outpost, search for the labelled data pickup rather than assuming the area-clear notification collected it.
- Assign responsibility for the pickup and preserve a route back to extraction.
- Check the mission outcome after extracting instead of assuming that collection granted a particular medal reward.
The extraction requirement is documented; a universal reward count or button sequence is not established by these sources. Historical Patch 1.001.100 fixed duplicate data pickups in strongholds. If a screenshot shows several copies, check its date before treating it as a current route.

Official 7.1.0 notes, including the illegal-broadcast sound change provides the documented context identified above. Source review: 11 October 2026. The decision sheets are editorial suggestions; no controlled performance testing is claimed. Published by Helldivers Catalog Expansion.
